View Full Version : Kanye West is a jackass

For once, I agree with Obama--Kanye West's stunt at the Video Music Awards, which I usually ignore, was the biggest display of jackassery that I've seen in a long time.

First off, it was just dumb. It looked like Taylor Swift was shocked that she won and it's not like she can help that the panel chose her video over Beyonce's.

Second, I haven't heard anyone else mention it, but didn't Beyonce win a superior award, seeing that she won best video all-around, not just best female video? Of course, if she's the best all-around, why didn't she also win best female? I don't really like it when this kind of thing is done--ie a school ignores the valedictorian when considering an honour for community service to "spread the awards around," but if that's how it's done at the VMAs, that's how it's done. Wouldn't he have felt even more like a jackass when he realized Beyonce won a superior award?

I hope he was thoroughly embarrassed by the whole thing, and nobody will let his stupid ass into one of these things again--at least not with a bottle of Hennessey grafted to his hand.

He's a cockfag, but he doesn't care. he just did it for the publicity. I can't stand him.

I got a good chuckle out of the radio station on my way to work yesterday. The radio station started to play a Kanye West song and then interrupted it after it had just started and said, "Everytime we were gonna play a Kanye song is now going to be replaced with a Taylor Swift song. Because she's cuter and nicer than you, Kanye, you D-bag."

Good times.

It would be funnier if they'd start playing a song and then interrupted it.

"Yo Britney, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish... but 'Womanizer' is one of the worst songs of ALL TIME!"

I'm starting to wonder if it was staged. If you watch later, Taylor comes out wearing the same colour dress as Beyonce.

I thought that was extremely odd as well. *shrug* Well, if Kanye staged it, I hope he likes negative attention.

The "apology tour" is a grand tradition. You have a public blowup, then you spend several months apologizing, and it becomes a story of redemption and personal growth. Great for sales and publicity.

The only thing the biz doesn't forgive is racism. Mel Gibson and Michael Richards can attest to that. Drunken behavior, drug addiction, sex addiction--everybody can deal with those. Just don't say anything bad about Jews or blacks.

I think Taylor was in on it. Something was off about her reaction.

I've been hearing a hell of a lot more Kanye songs on the radio this week. Apparently it's done wonders for his popularity. And Taylor's. You would almost have to think it was staged, I'm just wondering who was bright enough to cook this up and be sure it would work, and not horribly backfire on Kanye.

Maybe Kanye genuinely didn't care if it backfired, then? He's certainly done things in the past that could have destroyed his career--think "George Bush does not care about black people."

No publicity is bad publicity.

People expect Kanye to be a jackass anyway.
