So, there's this little game coming out for the Nintendo DS called "Scribblenauts." I'd never heard of it until yesterday. Apparently, it stole the show at E3.
I watched a few videos and I have to admit, the game looks fucking awesome.
The idea is pretty simple. It's a puzzle game, and you have to collect stars called "Starites." Each level revolves around this. The twist, however, is that your character solves puzzles by summoning objects. What objects can you summon? Well, just about anything (within reason.) The developers claim there are tens of thousands of words you can use in the game.
For instance, in one demo I saw, they entered "CTHULHU", then "GOD". Both deities were summoned. To make it an interesting fight, the player summoned "SKATEBOARD" and "SHOTGUN". God got on his skateboard, picked up his shotgun, and an epic battle ensued. (Both died.)
Also, you can summon "TIME MACHINE" and that does just what you think it would.
I normally don't get games as soon as they come out, but this is one I am really tempted to pick up as soon as I can get it. I love games that don't force you to play a certain way and have lots of flexibility.
