This morning it was announced that a woman had given birth on a flight coming into Auckland. I figured someone was trying to have an anchor-baby and had it a bit too early, but then the details came out.
After giving birth, the mother threw the baby into the airplane toilet's garbage cans (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2276000/Police-waiting-to-speak-to-mother). The baby was found by cleaners.
Shockingly, Mom, a Samoan, was admitted into New Zealand and was only discovered while trying to leave the airport but had forgotten her passport. When she asked for help, authorities noticed she was pale and still leaking blood--I guess she didn't gobble down the placenta like a good crunchy mom--and she was taken to the hospital.
Police are now waiting to talk to her, but it surprises me that she's not in a cell for what she did to her kid.
