View Full Version : Obama Oath Re-Administered
http://www.stuff.co.nz/4826710a12.html
US President Barack Obama was administered the oath of office a second time today at the White House because a word was out of sequence when he was sworn.
I guess too many people were saying he wasn't legitimately the President if he hadn't taken the oath properly, seeing that the oath is in the constitution, word for word.
Sometimes there's nothing to do but laugh at a situation.
well, it is kind of stupid to make him do it again, seeing as he was'nt even the one who fucked it up.
is he the first president to have to do this or what?

I guess they'd rather be safe than sorry. If they didn't readminister it, there would have been all kinds of "He's not really President!" arguments.

Yep, I was seeing them posted all over already.
Just like the rumour that his mom didn't register his overseas birth, so he's not really a citizen.

thats a little dramatic don't you think. the person administering it is only human too, maybe that guy was nervous because there was just so many people.

I've had to look him up to see why he's a "piece of shit bigot."
Apparently, he:
1. Feels military recruiters should be allowed on the campuses of schools that receive federal funding
2. Believes that if two people live in a home, police should be able to search it with the consent of only one of these people.
3. Believes proper notification must be given to owners if their home is to be forclosed upon and resold.
4. Is anti-abortion.
5. Opposes the use of race in assigning children to public schools, even if this means schools in black neighbourhoods are mostly black and schools in white neighbourhoods are mostly white.
6. Is in favour of assisted suicide.
So, which of these things make him a bigot? I'm in favour of all of them except #2. I guess I'm probably a piece of shit bigot, too.
Someone's told me that I should mention the reason I'm in favour of:
5. Opposes the use of race in assigning children to public schools, even if this means schools in black neighbourhoods are mostly black and schools in white neighbourhoods are mostly white.
When I was a little kid, schools in my city tried using race to equalize schools. This meant that they placed the gifted school in the centre of the worst black neighbourhood in my town. I had to get up at 7 a.m. and ride a bus 45 minutes from my home, into this neighbourhood and go to school there. There was another elementary school several blocks from me.
At the same time, kids who lived across the street from the school I attended had to wake up at 7 a.m. and ride buses for 45 minutes to schools all around the city because those schools were too white and placing the black kids in them equalized things. There was an elementary school right across the street from them, but they weren't allowed to attend it.
This sort of thing is wrong.
People are equal. Neighbourhood schools are a good thing, a community-builder, and nobody should be told they're too black or too white to attend the school across the street or a few blocks away.

Actually, I got a little mixed up between who administered the oath and who did the invocation. The guy who did the invocation (Rick Warren) is the piece of shit bigot. Justice John Roberts, I just don't think much of, but he's probably okay as a human being.
So, "piece of shit" remark is retracted and placed where it belongs: on Warren. :p
Yeah, I thought that's who you were talking about, but I knew he wasn't the one who administered the oath. It looks like Roberts had a few seizures recently, so that may also explain his stumbling.
As for Warren, I don't have a problem with him. He's anti-abortion, which I support. He's anti gay marriage. And he believes churches should be involved in "focus its efforts on fighting international poverty and disease, expanding educational opportunities for the marginalized, and caring for the environment."
I think the latter bit is why Obama chose him. he supports social activism. The abortion and gay rights views are pretty much Christian standards and Obama has said he's against gay marriage, even if he doesn't really mean it.
So why were all of the GBL groups all like, "OBAMA WILL LET US MARRY!!!!" then?
because they are misinformed.

I actually agree with the GBL groups. I think Obama is in favour of gay marriage. I think he's shown this in his attitude when speaking about homosexuals. He does so in a positive manner.
However, Obama said, every time he was asked, that he is against gay marriage.

Obama is, personally, opposed to gay marriage. However, he has stated he believes it is a state issue.
i'm in full support of allowing states to decide.
i put being an American before being a Conservative
